Oneiric Celephaïs is an italian technical death metal band, formed in 2015 in Florence. The band was founded by guitarist and singer Federico Giusti and drummer Emiliano Burchi. Later, joined guitarist Emilio Lucchesi and bass-player Francesco Fambrini. In 2016 they recorded their first demo, “From Beyond”. This short EP kinda sums up my whole outlook during 2020: Exhausted, hopeless*, & a constant oppressed feeling; but too goddamn determined to give up like a bitch & instead to do whatever the fuck it took to emerge from it stronger, no matter what. Mission Accomplished & I say with a snarl, "Fuck you COVID!" Also, my cat Wraith just LOVES it when I sing along to Insurmountable, though the main bit should have been sang 2x instead of 1.

Californian quartet defining themselves as Sci-Fi black metal, maybe due to cosmic and interstellar topics, sounding like blackened death metal too ("The Maw"). It's a well-balanced melodic black metal album, with some fast-paced tracks and nice rhythmic transitions reminding me of Swiss band Celtic Frost (e.g. Terminal Odyssey). In other words not overly dominated by drum speed and also not sounding as extreme or as raw as some BM can be.
